Kada koristimo little/a little?

LITTLE se koristi u svim tipovima rečenica ispred nebrojivih imenica (sugar, water, money, freedom..) i ima negativno značenje malo, jedva nešto, nedovoljno.. dok A LITTLE ima pozitivno značenje nešto,  a u toj situaciji je isto značenje kao kod reči SOME.

Primeri:

1. There is  little milk . – Ima malo mleka.

2. There is a little milk. – Ima nešto mleka.

3. Hurry up! There is little time left. – Požuri! Ostalo je malo vremena!

4.I have little money. –Imam malo novca.

5. I have a little money. – Imam nešto novca.

Kada koristimo few/a few?

FEW koristimo ispred brojivih imenica u množini jer few označava nekolicinu.

 A FEW koristimo isto ispred brojivih imenica u množini (books, pencils, cars, handbags) kako bismo označili da nečega ima nekoliko. A few označava da nečega ima više od dva i ima pozitivno značenje dok few ima negativno. Pojavljuju se u svim tipovima rečenica – potvrdnim, upitnim, odričnim.

Primeri:

1. There are few notebooks on the desk. – Nekolicina svezaka je na stolu.

2. There are a few notebooks on the desk. – Nekoliko svezaka je na stolu.

3. I have few friends in the city. – Imam nekolicinu prijatelja u gradu.

4. I have a few friends overseas. – Imam nekoliko prijatelja u inostranstvu.

5. Would you like a few cookies? – Da li bi želeo nekoliko kolačića?
