Poređenje prideva (Comparison of Adjectives)

1. Osnovni oblik (Positive form)

Osnovni oblik prideva se koristi kada ništa ne poredimo, već samo opisujemo imenicu.

Primeri:

• This car is fast.
• My house is big.
• She is beautiful.

2. Komparativ (Comparative form)

Koristi se kada poredimo dve osobe, stvari ili pojave.
Obično dodajemo nastavak -er ili koristimo more + adjective.

a) Jednosložni pridevi → dodaje se -er

• tall → taller
• fast → faster
• small → smaller

Primeri:

• My car is faster than yours.
• This room is smaller than that one.

b) Dvosložni pridevi koji se završavaju na -y, -er, -le, -ow → dodaje se -er

• happy → happier
• narrow → narrower
• simple → simpler

Primeri:

• She is happier today than yesterday.
• This road is narrower than the highway.

c) Višesložni pridevi → koristi se more + adjective

• beautiful → more beautiful
• expensive → more expensive
• comfortable → more comfortable

Primeri:

• This dress is more beautiful than the other one.
• The hotel is more comfortable than the hostel.

3. Superlativ (Superlative form)

Koristi se kada poredimo tri ili više stvari i želimo da istaknemo da je nešto „najviše“, „najlepše“, „najbrže“, itd.
Dodajemo -est kod jednosložnih ili nekih dvosložnih ili koristimo the most + adjective.

a) Jednosložni pridevi → -est

• tall → the tallest
• small → the smallest

Primeri:

• He is the tallest in his class.
• This is the smallest village in the region.

b) Dvosložni pridevi na -y, -le, -ow → -est

• happy → the happiest
• simple → the simplest

Primeri:

• She is the happiest person I know.
• That was the simplest solution.

c) Višesložni pridevi → the most + adjective

• beautiful → the most beautiful
• expensive → the most expensive

Primeri:

• It’s the most beautiful place in Europe.
• This is the most expensive restaurant in town.

4. Nepravilni oblici

Neki pridevi imaju posebne (nepravilne) oblike.

Primeri:

• This book is better than that one.
• Today is worse than yesterday.
• He has the least experience in the group.

5. Dodatne napomene

• Kada pridev završava na jedno slovo posle kratkog samoglasnika, to slovo se udvostručuje:
  • big → bigger → the biggest
  • hot → hotter → the hottest
• Kada se pridev završava na -y, menjamo ga u -ier / -iest:
  • easy → easier → the easiest
