Modal verbs of deduction – English Grammar B2
Modal verbs of deduction
Must, might, may, can’t i njihovi perfect oblici izražavaju koliko smo sigurni u zaključak, a ne obavezu.
Must za snažan zaključak
Must + infinitive označava da smo na osnovu dokaza gotovo sigurni u sadašnji zaključak.
Posle must ide osnovni glagol bez to.
Might/may za mogućnost
Might ili may označava mogućnost kada nemamo dovoljno dokaza za sigurnost.
Might + infinitiv bez to.
Perfect modals za prošlost
Must have + past participle = snažan zaključak o prošlosti; can’t have = zaključak da prošlo nije moguće.
Zaključak o prošlosti traži have + past participle.
